Zoning changed, grant sought
The Aransas Pass City Council approved a zoning ordinance amendment regarding open storage in general business districts, and approved submitting an application for a Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for first-time sewer improvements. The action was take during a regular term meeting Monday, Nov. 19. Due to Monday press deadlines before the council meeting, action is not able to be published the Wednesday after the meeting, therefore it is published the week after the meeting.
Prior to action, the council held a public hearing for the proposed text amendment which removes open storage (no enclosure) as a permitted use in General Business (GB) Zoning Districts.
Information presented to the council explained the issue was discussed by the Planning & Zoning Commission which then requested that staff review the recently passed zoning text amendments to clarify the allowance of open storage, both screened and without screening.
