Tax sale property offer accepted by City

The Aransas Pass City council approved the a tax sale offer on one property in order to get it back on the tax rolls, but denied the tax sale offer on another.

The council originally approved the offer on property located at 1059 McCampbell, by Michael Shultz on April 15, 2019, in the amount of $45,000 After council approval, however, a higher bid was received and a bid-off was conducted by the Linebarger Firm.

A new offer was then submitted, again by Schultz, this time in the amount of $86,000. The amount due to all entities is $253,870.69, and the City’s portion is $67,605.11, however with this offer, the City would receive $22,463.60.

Council woman Jan Moore said she would prefer having information about what Mr. Schultz plans to build on the property before approve the sale and releasing the liens. Council member Carrie Scruggs noted Schultz has previously indicated he plans a complete renovation of the property. A motion was then made and seconded to approve the sale.
