Superintendent presents ‘State of APISD’ address
The Aransas Pass Independent School District (APISD) will not only bounce back, but it will bounce forward, said Superintendent Cara Cooke as she presented a State of the District address at a Chamber luncheon last week.
Cooke expressed appreciation for the support she has received from the Chamber, Mayor Ram Gomez, City Manager Gary Edwards, San Patricio Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Foster Edwards, the vice president and chief financial officer from Del Mar College Dr. Lenora Keas, the APISD board of trustees, and most importantly her husband Richard who was able to attend the luncheon.
She said, ‘I am a firm believer when we are confronted with adversity or challenges in our lives that knock us to our knees, we have two choices - stay there and allow the adversity to overcome us or look up, get up, and face it head on.”
Cooke said when she arrived in the community five months ago, she began to see Aransas Pass and the APISD chose to rise up and build back what was taken away. She explained, “Many would say we are bouncing back, but I would like to propose that together we can do more than bounce back. We can bounce forward so the city, community and district will be even better than before the adversity hit us.”
