Students from the Ingleside and Aransas Pass Independent School Districts enrolled in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Program through Aransas Pass High School have achieved a significant goal. Saturday, January 21, their supervising instructor, U.S. Navy Lt. Scott Thrasher (Ret) reported young boys and girls involved with the group successfully competed against comparable programs from schools across the State of Texas, the event held at Moody High School in Corpus Christi. APHS was one of only two schools statewide to advance to the Area 10 State Finals, planned for Texas A&M in College Station February 24-25. “(I’m) very proud of these cadets and excited for the opportunities that await them,” Thrasher remarked in an email to The Progress.
