Off the coast of Aransas Pass, and from the waters near Ingleside and Ingleside on the Bay, the sea is filled with plenty. From novice to professional skills, fishermen return to this part of south Texas annually, especially in the summer to drop their lines hoping for a bounty and few are dissatisfied with the results. Local fishing guide Reggie Hanna, better known in the community as Captain One Eye Jack, begins a series of columns on what makes this part of the Coastal Bend so attractive for outdoor sportsmen.

Congratulations to youth boxers from Aransas Pass and Ingleside who placed in the Top 10 in a competitive field of peers in the United States. Each is a member of the Ingleside-based Elite Fitness boxing club for kids ages 4-through 16, a non-profit athletic group formed in 2016 by founder, Jordan Pinney. The six boxers here, including several from Rockport, are ranked amongst the best representing the Coastal Bend. Last month, they traveled to Lubbock to compete in the national junior Olympics, competing with young boxers from across the nation. The next tournament is coming up in Brownsville, July 28-29. That’s followed by a national tournament in December in Louisiana. Since they are a 501c3 they do seek donations from the community to help the facility stay open for the youth. If you would like to become a sponsor you can contact Coach Jordan Pinney at (361) 453-8535.
