Ruth Kilgore, 83, passed away after a short illness on October 6, 2016. She was born in Claud, Oklahoma in 1932. She is preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Clara Marker, brothers, Jake and Donald Marker, sister, Merle May, first husband, Al Klassen, second husband, Lewis Kilgore, and daughter, Margaret Charlton.
She is survived by one son, Chuck Klassen, daughters, Linda Schrader (Gene), Linda Timmerman (Tim), Becky Meerscheidt (Jesse), Patty Webb (Paul), and son-in-law Jimmy Charlton, grandsons, Travis Schrader (Amanda), Will Charlton (Lillian), and Joshua Meerscheidt, granddaughters, Cherie Flores (Dwyane), Cathrine Cheney (Robert), Kyrsten Wheatley, Megan Meerscheidt and 9 great grandchildren (James, Corey, Reace, Randall, Dwyane Jr., Sadie, Annabelle, Christopher, and Bryan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
After losing her first husband in an automobile accident, Ruth married Lewis Kilgore in 1970. Together they raised their children as one family. She was a caring and loving mother and wife and had many talents. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, an artist, a caregiver, had a green thumb and anyone who knew her, knew that she loved to cook! She held several jobs throughout her life, worked for HEB, as a bank teller, and most notably she managed the Seven Seas and Marina restaurant in Ingleside, Wilsons Railway Station in Woodsboro and she and Lewis formed a crew boat service, Kilgore Marine Service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodsboro until she relocated to Baytown, Texas in 2015.
A memorial service will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Service officiated by Dr. Jimmy C. Arnold.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Signature Home Health of Baytown, Texas and nurses and doctors at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas for their compassionate care, Dr. Jimmy Arnold for being such a good family friend and Charlie Marshall Funeral home and staff for the care and compassion towards our family and to our many friends and family for the prayers, kind words and support.
