Ruth Gandy Maddox
Ruth Gandy Maddox passed away Dec. 16, 2018. Ruth was born on August 5, 1925, to Mitchel and Lela Gandy. She was a very caring person and her family was her life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Captain J.T. Maddox Jr. She was a graduate of Ball High School in Galveston, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Aransas Pass. Ruth was Past Noble Grand of the Truth Rebekah Lodge No. 143. She was awarded the Rebekah highest merit award in 1988. She was a member of Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and a charter and life member of Coastal Bend Hospital Auxiliary.
Ruth was a den mother for Cub Scouts Den No. 341 for 12 years and a volunteer for Aransas Pass grade school for 11 years. She managed the Youth Center, Wreck, and Sugar Shack for 12 years ensuring the youth of Aransas Pass a safe and fun place to mingle. Ruth was awarded a special mission pin and recognition by the United Methodist Women on Dec. 12, 1995, and was also a member of the Library Board of Aransas Pass.
Survivors include three sons, James Terry (Cindy) Maddox III of Corpus Christi, William Todd Maddox of Canyon Lake, and Michael Troy Maddox of Aransas Pass; two grandsons, James Terry (Kelly) Maddox IV and Jason Todd Maddox, both of Corpus Christi; three granddaughters, Ursula V. Maddox Richardson of Aransas Pass, and Haley Esther Maddox and Kaci Marie Maddox (Rich Garcia), both of San Antonio; five great-granddaughters, Avery Nicole and Kayla Elizabeth Maddox of Corpus Christi, Reece Elizabeth Richardson of Oregon, Brooklyn Jolene Grace Maddox and Lenny Lucille Garcia, both of San Antonio; two great-grandsons, Atticus Ryan Todd Vieira of San Antonio and Dylan Maddox of Corpus Christi. Other survivors include four sisters, Betty (Lee) Jasinski, Dorothy (Paul) Redden, Lucille Monych, Ann Steelman and one brother, Roy (Barbara) Gandy. Ruth is also survived by many friends and loved ones.
There will be no service and a private burial will be held at a later date. The family would love to give special thanks to Colonial Manor Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice Care in New Braunfels. The professionalism and ultimate care given was remarkable. A very special thank you to each and every one of you who were a vital part of her life.
