Rising above the storm...together

It takes a very large team to restore electric service following a storm the size of Hurricane Harvey. Hundreds of AEP Texas employees were joined by thousands of workers from other American Electric Power companies, contractors and other utilities to help customers left in the dark by the Category 4 hurricane. Harvey knocked power out for 220,000 customers in the Coastal Bend area.

AEP Texas incorporated specialized equipment such as drones, helicopters, cranes and all-terrain vehicles for damage assessment and service restoration in areas where flooding made access difficult.

The outpouring of support from the public for the crews working to restore power has been tremendous and is deeply appreciated. Customers played a vital role during the restoration effort. Your patience and expressions of appreciation kept our crews energized as they worked to bring the power back.

AEP Texas also would like to thank the men and women who partnered to help our towns and communities return to normalcy. Many of those individuals are now in Florida or other states helping with the restoration effort following Hurricane Irma.

After all, we are all in this effort together. It is at times like these that the best of human nature is on display. Our employees, other first responders and countless individuals in the community focused on helping others ahead of themselves. All of us joining together...rising above the storm. We are proud to call the Coastal Bend home.
