Richard Patrick Hunt
Richard Patrick Hunt or Pat as he preferred to be called, 73, passed away Nov. 21, 2018 in Corpus Christi.
Coach Hunt is survived by his wife, Jane Hunt; one son, Justin Patrick Hunt; grandchildren, Dylan Ferrell and Alexis Ferrell; along with special adoptions of Allison and Lauren Joyal, Glen, Patricia and Lundan Baldeschwiler, and Tiffany Ward, as dear children and grandchildren. Coach Hunt also leaves behind many former players, students, and coaches who were dear to his heart.
Pat Hunt joined the Marine Corps in 1969 and served in Vietnam for 15 months. He began teaching and coaching girls basketball in 1975 in Odem, where he met and married his wife Jane in 1977. Coach Hunt was a legend, earning several trips to the State Girls Basketball tournament in Austin.
In 1992 Pat became a fishing guide due to the encouragement and mentorship of his friend Wally Mayer. He was so thankful for that job and the ability to meet so many great people during that tenure of his life. In all he did in life he considered himself lucky to have the assistance of his wife Jane to discuss all the daily ins and outs of coaching, teaching, and fishing. She listened, talked, loved, and advised him through all day to day things that happen in a busy life. Pat and Jane moved to Ingleside on the Bay when they came to teach and coach in Ingleside. The views of the water and the ships passing by were always a great pleasure to him.
