Panthers fall to Mustangs in non-district matchup
The Aransas Pass High School varsity Panthers kept the game close through the first three quarters, holding the Mustangs to just one score, and trailing only 7-8 going into the final quarter, during its Friday, Sept. 7 non-district matchup.
The Mustangs scored twice more, however, while keeping the Panthers out of the end zone, and handing Aransas Pass a 24-7 loss.
The Mustangs scored first in the first quarter, on a oneyard run, and also converted the two points for an 8-0 lead. The Panthers answered in the second quarter as Panther Diego Moralez scored on a seven- yard run. The point-after attempt sailed true, and Aransas Pass was within one, 7-8. Coming out in the third quarter, the Panthers had first possession, but were unable to move the ball downfield. They punted and the Mustangs took over at their own 24 yard line with a little more than six minutes left. The hosts then marched down field, hitting second and goal from the five yard line with seconds left, and time elapsed.
