John Thomas Gleaton
John T Gleaton, 73, a resident of Palatka, Florida for 8 years, (formerly of Aransas Pass, Texas), passed away on June 29, 2021, in Palatka, Florida.
At John’s request, no services will be held. His last journey will be to return to Aransas Pass for a small family gathering, just as he wished.

John was born in Juneau, Alaska to James and Virginia Gleaton on November 9, 1947. He graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1966, enlisting in the US Marine Corps after graduation, proudly serving from 1966 – 1972 and was a Viet Nam veteran. He married Brenda Johnson in Aransas Pass, Texas. He spent many years working on gulf shrimp boats until earning his 100 ton license, working offshore as a supply and crew boat captain in the Gulf of Mexico oil industry.
John is preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda “Marnie” Gleaton, son, Aaron Uriah Gleaton and his parents, Jim and Virginia Gleaton.
John is survived by Bonnie Rossington, his constant companion and the love of his life. Her children, Reba Seyster (Richard), Lisha Wellesley, Trevus Martin (Shirley) and Jamie Wright. Sister, Maralee (E.J.) Jones and nephew, Rob Chesnutt and his children, Aimee and Eli Chesnutt. Special inlaws, Linda and Bruce Finley, Reba Ledbetter and Johnnie Mae Slayton. Granddaughter, Marnie Marie Gleaton. Special grandchildren, Jacob and James Seyster, Lilliana Wellesley, Rhayne Collette, Ciarra Sousa, Brooklyn and Nathaniel Wright. Special nephews, Kolton and Gauge Finley. And THE very special fur baby, Miss Ruby.
John’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Roberts Care Center of Palatka, Florida for the kind and compassionate care he received during his final days. Also, a very special thank you to Melanie and Dawn for the love and care they provided to John at home. He always looked forward to your visits and you both really brightened his days
