James Monroe Brittain
James Monroe Brittain, U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, passed away Dec. 31, 2018 at the age of 91. James was born on Feb. 5, 1927, in Jacksonville, TX.
He was a loving and devoted husband, uncle, great uncle, brother and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Jessie May Brittain; and his sisters, Peggy Carrick, Billy Pratt and Joe Rogers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of more than 25 years, Shirley; one stepdaughter, Linda (Ben) Tucker; stepson, Charles (Tori) Meissner; granddaughter, Alexis Boenisch; sister-in-law, Delores Foreman; mother-in-law, Bettye Copeland; nieces, Peggy Helm and Charlotte Seals; nephew, Reggie M. Rogers; great-nephews, Michael Rogers, Reggie R. Rogers, Reed Rogers, Russell Rogers, and Dylan Seals; and great- nieces, Tina Rowsey, Reagan Rogers, and Cheryl Taylor.
J.M. was a WWII veteran. He served in the Pacific and was life member of the VFW Post 2932 in Aransas Pass. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason for many years. He was the 100th Master of Lodge 1018 in Aransas Pass. He was an adopted uncle to the Dye family; Drew, Jim, Bob and Ronnie with their wives and special friend to many.
A graveside service with Full Military Honors conducted by Pastor Aaron Jayne was held at Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass.
