James Davis “Jim” Aikin
James Davis “Jim” Aikin, 59, died peacefully in Scottsdale, AZ on March 30, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born July 15, 1958 in Corpus Christi, , to James Lee Aikin, Jr. and Genevieve Brauer Aikin and lived in Texas, Virginia, New York state, the Washington D.C. area and Arizona. Jim graduated from the University of Virginia in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in commerce and marketing. He worked for more than 30 years in the hospitality industry in hotels, restaurants, and catering; and had some great stories to share about his career experiences. Jim loved travel, cooking, sampling the menus at unusual restaurants and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed his work with the Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona serving on their executive committee for several years. Jim was the grandson of Walter and Lula Lee Brauer of Ingleside, and, as a child, spent summers fishing and houseboating with the family. He is survived by a sister, Louisa; an aunt, Ann Brauer Burns; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim’s amazing life will be celebrated at a graveside service Friday, July 13, at 11:30 a.m., at Seaside Memorial Park.
