Marie Ann Gristy
Central Montana Health & WellnessMarie Ann Gristy passed away April 12, 2018 at UT Tyler Hospital. She is survived by her loving soul mate and husband of 56 years, Tina Gristy, her two sons Dean and Darren as well as three grandchildren Angelica, Chance and Chelsea. Marie was born in 1942 in Saint Joe, Texas to John and Eloise Phillips. The last of four children, she had three brothers, Arvin, Tommy and Teddy. Her early years were spent in Borger, Texas. She and her mom moved to Aransas Pass in the mid 1950s, where she completed high school and was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Corpus Christi for voice. Her love of music and school would soon be eclipsed by her love for a young man, Tina Gristy, who she met on a blind date with friends. Their relationship blossomed quickly and soon they were engaged to be married. The wedding was announced on the society page of The Progress - Aransas Pass, April 15, 1962, and boasted of their plans to make their home in exotic Puerto Rico after a brief honeymoon in Houston. After a few years in Puerto Rico, the couple returned stateside and settled in Irving, Texas were she raised her family and became a hairdresser, a career she enjoyed all the way to retirement. Marie was able to see world, she and Tina traveled throughout the years and eventually retired and settled at Lake Bob Sandlin where they enjoyed close friends and family, lovely sunsets with a glass of wine, sights and sounds of the lake, and lots of fishing. Marie was an artist who discovered her love of painting late in life but produced many wonderful paintings. She enjoyed cooking, music and entertaining friends and family. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. We love you and our lives are better having experienced your love.
