Sea Academy expedites last class before storm, reopens on schedule
Sea Academy instructors found themselves having to expedite their last class in August 2017 because of Hurricane Harvey, but then were able to resume classes on Sept. 15, on schedule, after electric power was restored.
Owned and operated by Captains Fred and Hope Comingore, the Sea Academy Inc. has been a Gulf Coast Leader in maritime education since 1978.
Sea Academy staff includes Capt. Robert Meza, senior instructor; Capt. Buddy Mc- Dowell, sailing instructor; and Capt. Robert Meza, Jr., office assistant who is in training with his twin brother Francisco Meza to become United States Coast Guard (USCG)- approved instructors.
USCG-approved courses and instructors can help bring one’s boating skills to a higher level. From the entry level OUPV (6 PAK) Captain’s license to the Master’s Upgrade, as well as sailing and towing endorsements, First Aid/CPR/ AED, FCC radio license, GPS and boating safety classes, Sea Academy instructors strive to increase one’s safety on the water.
