AP Chamber banquet honorees noted for post-storm efforts
Much of the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce’s 81st annual awards dinner focused on the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey as several of the honorees were so awarded for their role in recovery efforts after the storm. The event was held Friday, Jan 26 in the Aransas Pass Civic Center, a venue also still undergoing repairs.
Two businesses were presented with the 2017 community impact award. AEP and HEB were honored for their companies’ efforts after the storm as AEP helped restore a vital service – electricity to area residents, and HEB helped with water, ice, food, and other necessary items for local residents even before the store was open. It was noted the city’s most basic needs could not have been met without the support and generosity of these companies and their employees who worked countless hours and also volunteered to help in the community.
