Jessie Shedd, age 79, a 48-year resident of Round Rock, passed away Jan. 13, 2018 in Conroe. He was born Jessie Ray Shedd on Aug. 6, 1938 in Rockport, to Riley A. and Kizzie A. Shedd. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his oldest brother, Riley Shedd Jr. of Aransas Pass; his twin sister, Dessie Mae Tomlinson of Roseburg, OR; and his sister, Dicy Lee Smith of Aransas Pass. He is survived by his three younger brothers, Randall Shedd of Sinton, Melvin Shedd of Aransas Pass, and Ace Shedd of San Antonio; his three sons, Riley Shedd of Conroe, Josh Shedd of Texarkana, and Adam Shedd of Round Rock; his daughter Lisa Bray and her husband Mark of Marble Falls; five beautiful granddaughters, Cherie and Regan Shedd, and Elizabeth, Emily, and Ella Bray; and many nephews, and nieces. Jessie was raised in Aransas Pass and graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 and attended the University of Texas intermittently before and after his military service. In October of 1967 he married Stella Dale Ware of Waco and he purchased his current home in Round Rock soon after that. He began working at Texas Instruments (TI) in 1967 where he was employed for 25 years and retired in 1992. After his retirement from TI, he went to work for the State of Texas and retired again in 2002. Jessie was known and loved dearly for his willingness to give the shirt on his back to someone in need, his great sense of humor, his heart for kids, and above all his love and dedication to his own children and grandchildren. He most treasured the sound and spirit of “real” bluegrass music, his lifelong friends who he considered true family, and many memories of good times spent in his home place in Round Rock. Family received friends Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Graveside services followed at Cook- Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery at 1:30.
