Charles L. Johnson II
Charles “Charlie” L. Johnson II, affectionately known as “Cajun Charlie,” of Wimberley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at Seton Hayes Hospital in Kyle at the age of 71. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Crecre; son Chuck and wife Kesli, and son Sean and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Olivia, Jake, Garrett, and Caleb; and brother Ralph Johnson and wife Nancy. He was proceeded in death by his parents Ralph and Martha Johnson, his brother Sammy Seyle, and nephews David Vaughn and John Alan Turner. Charlie was born Aug. 13, 1946 in Morgan City, LA, and was raised in Aransas Pass. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy on the USS Durham. He was a loving husband and father who was a Scoutmaster and coach to his sons. He served three terms on the Aransas Pass City Council and was involved in politics throughout his life. “Cajun Charlie” enjoyed cooking and catering his Cajun shrimp boil for friends and family. He was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charlie was a life member of the VFW Post 6441 in Wimberley and also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 923 in San Marcos. A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley. Graveside service with military honors followed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
