Walter Allen Burgess
Walter Allen “Red” Burgess, 65, passed away with his family by his side Sept. 22, 2017. He was born July 14, 1952 in Brownfield, Texas. He was a 1972 graduate of APHS and played football for the Panthers, he was a longtime league bowler at Sully’s Bowling Lanes and also raised cattle and goats. He refereed and coached for youth soccer teams in the Coastal Bend area. Red worked for many companies including Whataburger, the City of Aransas Pass Police dispatch and Port Aransas Police dispatch, the City of Aransas Pass public works, Brown & Root, maintenance for Baytree Apartments, Gulf Marine Fabrications, and Port Royal Condominiums. He was a wonderful husband, father and “Paw Paw” and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father Loyd Eddie Burgess; his mother Georgiana Harwood and stepfather, Oscar Harwood; and one brother, Loyd Edward Burgess.
He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Burgess; his son, Jacob Allen Burgess (Kayrin); daughters, Amanda Lee Noe (William Rich), Erin Elaine Burgess (Enver Xhaferaj), and Alicya Nykol Burgess (William Henderson); sonin-law, Christopher J. Noe; his brother, James Richard Burgess; sisters, Donna Sue Haer, and Paula Jean Schibi Burgess; grandchildren, Harrison, Fay, Alex, Edi, Madeleine, Cassie, Allen and Aspen; and numerous nephews, nieces and other extended family and friends.
Pallbearers are James Burgess, Greg Burgess, Lance Burgess, Christopher Noe, William Henderson and Enver Xhaferaj.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
