APPD to purchase new radio equipment
The Aransas Pass City Council approved authorizing the police department to purchase new public safety radio equipment at a cost not to exceed $420,000, with monies to come from its drug forfeiture fund. The action was taken at during a regular term meeting Monday, July 3.
Documentation about the purchase was provided to the council by the Aransas Pass Police Department (APPD). The equipment will be purchased from Dailey-Wells Communications which includes the trade-in of old public safety radios.
The primary purpose is to provide law enforcement the ability to directly communicate on both UHF and VHF (fire department and EMS) frequencies. The upgrade will replace equipment that is nearing end of life and prepare the department for anticipated upgrades.
