AP students makes successful transition to higher education
Transitioning from a small community college to a larger university can be intimidating, but a little help from the right people and places can make things easer as Estevan “Stevie” Espinoza can attest. His successful transfer from Del Mar College to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi was highlighted in a story on the university’s website last month.
Espinoza is a 2014 graduate of Aransas Pass High School, where he was a member of the school band. As he began classes at Del Mar, that is one thing he was sure of continuing, as he joined the Del Mar Jazz band. Taking classes, however, was another matter as in his first semester he had no idea about a major, but was grateful to begin taking his basic/necessary classes. By his second semester he settled into working on a general business degree, and by his last spring semester considered accounting as a career area for his bachelor’s degree.
