16.7% turnout in City election ousts incumbent

One incumbent was reelected, one was ousted, and one new face was elected to the Aransas Pass City Council, in the general election Saturday, May 6, which brought out 16.7 percent of registered voters to the polls. In the race for Aransas Pass Independent School District, the incumbent also was unseated.

City of Aransas Pass

In the race for Aransas Pass Mayor, incumbent Adan Chapa was defeated by challenger Ram Gomez by a margin of only 15 votes, 437-422. Gomez garnered 332 early votes to 271 for Chapa. On election day, Chapa received more votes, 151-102, than Chapa but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
