Robert Benonie Watson
Robert Benonie Watson, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas on August 1, 2016. He was born on October 12, 1928 in Plecido, Texas to Robert B Watson and Lena Chamerss. Bob Watson is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; L.C, and Teddy, his sisters; Canara La Plant, Ablon Therien, Charlot Willis and Georgia Ellen. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Betty Watson, four children , sons; Roger (Delrhea) , Philip (Jenette) daughters ; Susan (Michael) and Pam. He was very proud of his children and also of his ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In 1948, Bob began his career in the Coast Guard where he served in the Pacific and Atlantic for 21 years. In 1969, he moved his family to Aransas Pass where he and Betty raised all four of of their children. Bob was Passed Patron of Eastern Star 162 and Past Master of Lodge1018 AF AN. He was also a member of the Methodist Church. He was first elected to the city council of Aransas Pass in 1978, in 1986 he was elected mayor and served for several years. In 1998, he began serving our community as Municipal Judge. Bob Watson was always involved in the betterment of our community, anyone could stop by Bob’s house, usually find him in his garage, where he would answer any and all questions. He loved to just talk, his knowledge of our town was astounding. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Church, August 20, at 10 a.m.
