New Panther statue prowls at the high school

By Jesica Parsley

The Leadership Aransas Pass Class IV unveiled the Panther statue at Aransas Pass High School on May 6 after the class completed graduation. The morning of May 16 the class was scheduled to hold a ceremony to dedicate the statue to the high school, but due to the flooding, the ceremony has been postponed. Each year the Leadership AP Class is tasked with a team project, and the 2015-2016 class chose the Panther statue for their project. Class participant Patricia Branch explained this year’s class was very Aransas Pass Independent School District driven. “We’re very passionate about the students here,” Branch said. “We knew we wanted something to identity ourselves as the Panthers which is how the Panther statue project came about.”
