Thanksgiving is just a week away and, sadly, many people in Aransas Pass may have little for their dinner table. Even an emergency food box supply had been stripped of any donations Saturday, November 11th, except for two bags of dried beans. The box sits outside the Ed & Hazel Richmond Public Library at 110 N. Lamont St., near the VFW Post, and is open and unlocked year-round. The difficulty is finding regular contributors to drop off non-perishable staples to keep the box stocked. Popular items seem to be canned fish, soups, crackers, juices, and drinks – pretty much anything that can be prepared or consumed with little effort. Library staff will accept food donations during normal hours weekdays and replenish the food box shelves as needed.
