Christmas Wonderland creator lights up display one last time

William ‘Sonny’ Holmes, now 77, uses canes to walk and has become frail with age and a debilitating condition. But the Ingleside resident who started a miniature ‘Christmas Wonderland’ in his front yard, filled with wooden figurines and thousands of lights will flip the switch on one more time for the season December 1st and then call it quits after more than 40 years delighting residents. Holmes, a retired City of Ingleside employee, used mostly scrap wood pieces he’d find in the community and used his carpentry skills to make each display by hand. Last year, ‘Sonny’ won an award for the best decorated house in the area. He hopes one of his children may carry on the tradition in the future. Ingleside Index
