There are 28 of these decorative street lamps the length of Commercial St. in downtown Aransas Pass, all owned by the city. They are old, and use standard electricity to run them. Soon, they will be replaced with all new solar-powered lights as the administration seeks to“go green”, according to Department of Public Works Director, David Flores. The concrete bases with their seashell motifs will stay. The project is budgeted for $85,000.
