Aransas Pass Progress
It’s more than a fender bender. The left rear quarter section of the Aransas Pass Fire Department’s newest apparatus, a 2020 Pearce aerial ladder truck that cost $1.4-million brand new suffered damages earlier this month when the Engineer/ Operator was leaving a local gas station, striking a concretereinforced
metal bollard that’s in place to protect the fuel pumps from being hit. Chief Nathan Kelley said the manufacturer has cleared the use of the vehicle as needed for any emergency, but it will have to come out of service for extensive repairs in the future. Following the department’s protocol, the driver submitted to a routine drug test, and a police report of the incident has been filed, too. The firefighter also received a verbal warning.
