Local Author Publishes Fourth Book

Writing books for Aransas Pass resident Tonia Woolever comes from personal experiences with God in hopes to help other people in their Christianity journey.

“I kept God at arm’s length, and I was very broken,” Woolever said. “I shook my fist at God, asking Him to show Himself to me, He answered and I’ve been changed ever since.”

Woolever’s first book was titled “The Woman God Designed.” Her newest book, “They Will All Know Me”, is the third book in her ScribeLife Series. Woolever describes her books as a way to show readers how God showed her to know Him. “He answered my cry by opening my eyes to the fact that I was trying to live a religion instead of having a living relationship with a real and present God,” Woolever said. “I discovered a God who nourished and delighted me, who carried me instead of me trying to carry Him. I want that for everyone I know, and I try to explain that in my books.”

Tonia married Ron who was a pastor, and now, they have been in ministry together for 35 years. “I’ve known for years she would write books,” Ron said. “It was just about us slowing down, and her having the time to write. We’re a team.”

All four of Tonia’s book are self-published, and she described self-publishing as an easier outlet for her at this time. “The publishing companies are about making a buck which is just the way it is,” Tonia said. “My books were important enough to me for me to find a different way to get them out.”

Tonia shared they purchased a software where she wrote the books, and she also could design the book in the software. Once the writing and design process was complete, they found a professional printing company to print the books. Tonia said the hardest part is self-marketing which is where Ron helps the most. “He has been my biggest fan,” Tonia said. “He stands at the book table when I’m speaking somewhere, and we’ve been lucky to have support from local churches, local people and people around the world we’ve ministered.”

Tonia explained her next step is to write at least two more books in the ScribeLife series while actively seeking a literary agent. “An agent would help us with the marketing in which we lack as well as the editing process,” Tonia said. “With an agent, I could just really focus on writing and using God’s gift He has given me.”

Through the Woolevers ministry, Shammah Ministries, they have traveled around the world. Now, the Woolevers are guest speakers, Bible teachers and counselors. Tonia’s books can be purchased anywhere Christian books are sold, on Amazon in paperback or Kindle e-book or on Tonia will be speaking at First Christian Church located at 337 W. Nelson Ave. in Aransas Pass on Aug. 28, and a book signing will follow the service. “We’re deliberately engaging in God,” Tonia said. “We’re trying to teach and show that in our ministry and explain that in my books; it’s a lifestyle.”
