Ingleside-Aransas Pass Relay for Life features carnival theme
The 18th annual Aransas Pass-Ingleside Relay for Life campaign kicked off with a carnival-theme pep rally held at the Ingleside VFW Post 683 Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Relay for Life is a global effort spearheaded by the American Cancer Society since 1985 raising more than $5 billion and recruiting more than 2.5 million volunteers in 5,200 communities in 20 countries. Locally, Ingleside and Aransas Pass volunteers have cooperated to conduct Relay for Life joint events for 18 years, hosting it at the football fields or city parks.
“This year, we have chosen a carnival theme and are looking to have the 2017 relay in October from noon to midnight at the Shrimporee grounds in Aransas Pass,” said Penny Davila, first year event chairman. “We hope to take advantage of the cooler weather and to bring in the Wagner Carnival for the 2017 Relay for Life event to make the carnival theme the best theme we have ever had,” she added.
