Flood waters take over Aransas Pass
May 15 brought several inches of rain to the local area causing flooding on several streets throughout Aransas Pass. The Aransas Pass Independent School District delayed school to a 10 a.m. start time on May 16. The Aransas Pass Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works Department began water rescues throughout town early morning on May 16, both on the roads and in houses. City Hall activated the Emergency Operations Center at City Hall ay 4 a.m. on May 16 to be a staging area for residents displaced. According to a City press release, the EOC estimate roughly 20-30 rescues were performed as of noon on May 16. Red Cross Crews were in town and assisting areas who needed assistance. City pumps were running and reinforcement pumps were sought to get the flood waters pumped out.
