Edith Ernestine Ives, born on February 28, 1937, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the age of 82. Edith had been battling an illness for many years.

Edith grew up in San Antonio, Texas where she met, and married, Sydney Charles Ives Jr. and spent their lives together in the shrimping industry in Aransas Pass, Texas. During this time, they had together four children, Alan Wade Ives, Charles Ives of Ingleside, TX, Randy Ives of Seguin, Tx and Tena Charlene Lewey of Seguin, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sydney Charles Ives Jr, her son Alan Wade Ives, and numerous siblings. She is survived by her brother Patrick Kelley (Cindy), daughter Tena Charlene Lewey, her two sons, Charles Ives and Randy Ives, her grandchildren, Chad Ives (Joanna) of Houston, TX, Jennifer Jones (Jeremiah) of Seguin, Tx, Katie Wright (Stephen) of San Antonio, Tx and Vaughn Lewey of Corpus Christi, TX. She leaves memories in the hearts of her five great grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Goldman, Peyton Jones, and Abram and Bronson Ives.

In the early years of her adult life, she spent her time raising her children with grace and strength. She had a passion for cooking and baking foods for her family, as well as reading, writing and arts and crafts.

While her husband was working on the shrimp boat, she took care of everything on the home front.

She would repair things when they broke, take care of the home, and raise their children. She was known for her independence and being a very devoted mother. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren and she had a tremendous love for celebrating Christmas and surrounding herself with family in times of celebration.

She later worked at Wal-Mart for many years, where she taught many how to use sewing materials and greeted everyone with a warm smile.

She had a great, loving and compassionate ear for her dearest and closest friends. To her family, she was a rock, and though she will be terribly missed, she left many memories in the hearts of the people who loved her dearly.

The family will be mourning privately, no services were desired by Edith as she made her way peacefully to be with her family and our Lord in Heaven.

Though she has passed from this life to the next, she will always be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. The world lost a great lady that day, but heaven received an amazing angel and is that much better since her arrival.
