APISD Food Drive Has its Benefits, Too
Ashley Diaz Castro, a 4th grader at Charlie Marshall Elementary School and Orlando Garza, a 2nd grader at H.T. Faulk Elementary hold brand new Chromebook laptop computers, prizes they won in this year’s holiday food drive competition hosted by Dream Team Realtors in collaboration with the Aransas Pass schools. Students from both schools collected about 3,000 non-perishable food items, some that are used to stock free food pantries, one located outside the high school, another outside A.C. Blunt Middle School. Donations also help stock Tri-County Christian Services’ food pantry in Aransas Pass. Of the two grade schools, Charlie Marshall Elementary collected the most items in the food drive totaling about 1,600.

If you missed the Holiday Market held Nov. 12-13 at the Aransas Pass Civic Center, it will be back! But you’ll have to wait for the Texas Winter Market Jan. 14-15. Produced by Kyle, TX (near Austin) based Texas Market Guide, hundreds strolled the 60 vendors offering a variety of gifts, including specialty foods, and unique jerky products. Ever had wild boar for a snack? This is the 10th year Holiday Market has come to the Civic Center, the foyer, lobby, and exhibit hall filled with Christmas decorations. Next weekend, a similar show will be held in Bryan, TX, followed by San Marcos, TX just before Thanksgiving.
