Aransas Pass Progress
Overcast skies appeared ready to burst open with rain, but not a drop fell during the 75th annual Shrimporee Parade along South Commercial St. in downtown Aransas Pass Saturday morning, May 20. Scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. it lasted 45-minutes complete with floats, a marching band, and San Patricio County Children’s Librarian ‘Mr. Kippy’ atop his iconic unicycle. Hundreds lined the parade route, children gleefully darting in and out of the roadway as participants tossed candies and beads towards onlookers. The Silver Anniversary of Shrimporee was moved up a month from its normal June calendar date. Each year it’s hosted by the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center.
