Rosalie Beaty, 59, an Aransas Pass native started donating blood in 1981 when she was in high school. She’s since moved to Port Aransas but came back to help the Coastal Bend Blood Center during its ‘Fishing for Donors’ blood drive outside Walmart Tuesday, February 28. Beaty is type A-negative and for her willingness to help save lives she received a t-shirt and complimentary restaurant food coupon. Blood Center officials said they hoped to collect 60 units of blood during the event that lasted for eight hours. By the end of the day they had collected 56.
