Spring and summer are long gone, and it appears citizens of Aransas Pass who expected to have access to the so-called ‘Community Garden’ project by now across from City Hall will have to wait another year. Sitting on a triangle of land, all that’s been accomplished so far is the installation of a perimeter fence and water lines for irrigation. Recently, the only additions have been piles of soil, and cut lumber, presumably for the construction of raised planting beds. When the Progress sought an update from Director of Community Enrichment, Kaylynn Paxson, with a timeline for completion, her response via email November 8th was, “I do not have any real updates at this time on this project. I will let you know when we do.” The garden was an idea suggested by Aransas Pass senior citizens and embraced by the city council that endorsed its creation. Residents could have access to the space to grow vegetables, flowers, et al. More details can be found here on the city’s website: https://aptx.gov/418/Community-Garden
