City reconsiders, approves new waste pickup contract
Two weeks after the Aransas Pass City Council tabled action regarding a new solid waste and garbage collection service, the matter was brought back to the agenda by two council members. After it was approved for reconsideration, a split 3-2 vote awarded the contract to Absolute Waste, the service with the lowest fee, in a regular council meeting last week.
The contract of current provider, Republic, will expire in April. With the new contract approved, Republic and Absolute Waste will have to coordinate efforts on a transition of service.
