City to negotiate for drainage study
The Aransas Pass City Council authorized staff to begin negotiations with LNV for engineering services for a city-wide drainage study, and approved other business items at a regular term meeting Monday, Dec. 3. Due to Monday press deadlines before the council meeting, action taken is not able to be published the Wednesday after the meeting, but is published the Wednesday a week after the meeting.
In regard to the study, the City’s infrastructure for storm water is in bad shape. With all the recent rain events, this has become more evident with more than 40 cave-ins occurring throughout the City. The last map that inventoried the Aransas Pass system was from 1983. With all the new development and changes to local terrain, a new study is needed to determine if the existing system is adequate or needs upsizing before any repairs are done.
