City of Aransas Pass accepts $600,000+ in grants from RTF
The City of Aransas Pass received more than $600,000 in grant funds from Rebuild Texas and action was taken by the City Council to accept those funds which will be used for the city’s first-ever emergency operations center, and for equipment for the police and fire departments. The action was taken during a regular term council meeting May 6, 2019.
Due to early press deadlines on the Monday of the meeting, action taken is not able to be published the Wednesday after the meeting, but is published the Wednesday a week after the meeting.
The City accepted funds in the amount of $519,200 as awarded from the Rebuild Texas fund to be used for an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The monies are the result of an amendment to an early request, however, this proposal provides funding to convert the City Council chambers into a dual purpose room. The room will still be used for City Council meetings, and the other purpose will be a permanent EOC with the needed equipment.
