Brenda Ann Kemp
Brenda Ann Kemp, 73 years young, died peacefully Jan. 22, 2018 surrounded by family in the home of Leb and Theresa Kemp. Brenda was known for her welcoming smile, generous heart, and steadfast belief in family first. Brenda had an excellent sense of humor, great disposition and was a pleasure to be around. Her family and circle of lifelong friends from Jasper can attest to her strengths. Brenda was the eldest of three children born to Ann Rogers and Charlie Brown of Jasper, on Aug. 7, 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Kemp, and two younger siblings, Kay Barnes and Charlie Brown. One child Sarah Kemp and one grandchild Zachary Lewis also moved on to the next stage of life way too early. Brenda deeply missed them all. Brenda married Bob Kemp in 1980. Brenda immediately became a “mom” to eight children and one grandson, and boy did her life change, but she embraced the challenge. They are Peggy Choules Fiedler and husband Kevin from Houston, Eleanor Kemp Lewis from Albuquerque, NM, Maysel Kemp White and husband Don from Clearwater Beach, FL, Sarah Kemp (deceased), Paul Choules and wife The Honorable Elizabeth Ray Choules from Houston, Lebbeus Kemp and wife Theresa Durnell Kemp from Katy, Mary Kemp Wedding from Princeton, WV; and grandson David Kemp from Rosebud. Brenda leaves behind the “Kemp” family of seven children (listed), 18 grandchildren: Leslie Fiedler, Attelia Hollander, Alatha Joyner, Charity Smith, Seth Lewis, Dean White, David Kemp, Christopher Choules, Alexander Choules, Jonathon Durnell, Christopher Durnell, Sierra Kemp Prachyl, Brenda Wedding, Michael Wedding, and Ben Kemp; and 19 great grandchildren, Kayden Hollander, Berlin Hollander, Devlin Hollander, Auron Joyner, Payton Smith, Zoey Smith, Louis Lewis, Frankie Lewis, Zachary Lewis, Syler Lewis, Matthew Dietz, Brett White, Ellie Durnell, Lyenuss Wedding, Lyza Wedding, Brayden Wedding, Walter Wedding, Juniper LaDrig and Naomi Kemp. Additionally, Brenda was very devoted to her Brown family of two nephews Charlie Brown and Hunter Barnes; great nephew Fisher Barnes; niece Lindsay Barnes; and great nephew Zaden Barns. Not only was Brenda dedicated to her Brown and Kemp family, she had a “family of choice” which included a lifelong circle of friends from Jasper who grew up together, stayed in touch, travelled and enjoyed life together. Brenda graduated from Jasper High School in 1962. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin with a BA in business in 1969. After college she worked in Houston for Funds Inc. as a trader for mutual funds and continued this work in California. Brenda spent a large portion of her career working at the national level in customer relations for Michelin and retired from there.
