Blue Angel ‘Ace’ upholds surprising family tradition
Coming home on a surprise visit has become an “unplanned tradition” for Aransas Pass native and Blue Angel Navy Counselor Ace Shedd, and it’s one he still managed to pull off a few weeks ago. With the announcement of the Blue Angels making their way to Corpus Christi, and even with his mother Clara knowing her son is a part of that prestigious organization, he snuck into town unexpectedly the Sunday before the show.
The young man explained he comes home twice a year and never tells anyone ahead of time. He did it at first because he wanted it to be a surprise, and then it just became, not a habit, but a tradition. He said, “I do it every time, and I’ve been coming home a couple of times a year.” He emphasized, “I enjoy the surprise.”
