Aransas Pass Council approves business items
The Aransas Pass City Council approved a transportation agreement, an increase in garbage services, a change order for a water line project, renewing a recycling agreement, seeking bank depository bids, and a contract for the police department’s advocacy services, in action taken during a regular term meeting on June 3, 2019.
Council members formally approved an agreement with the Regional Transportation Authority for public transportation services from the Memorial Day weekend, through Oct. 31, 2019, to allow the Regional Transportation Authority to travel through with one stop in Aransas Pass.
The Regional Transportation Authority in Corpus Christi started transportation service from Corpus Christi to Ingleside, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas. City Manager Gary Edwards received a call from the Authority prior to the Memorial Day weekend asking if its bus could provide transportation service in Aransas Pass. In order to allow the to benefit from the Memorial Day Weekend, Edwards agreed to allow the stop in Aransas Pass, noting there was not time to take the issue before the Council. They plan to continue the service through Oct.31, and at no cost to the City, yet it provides a transportation option for local residents.
Council member Billy Ellis made a potion to approve the agreement, and it was second by council woman Carrie Scruggs and carried unanimously.
