APPD conducts ‘minor’ undercover operation
The Aransas Pass Police Officers conducted an undercover operation over the weekend designed to make sure store clerks are following the liquor laws in Texas as well as to catch those who sell alcoholic beverages to minors.
Out of the 21 businesses targeted, only two did not comply with state law.
The operation involved having a designated minor go into licensed establishments and attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages. A minor was able to successfully purchase alcoholic beverages from two licensed establishments in Aransas Pass. In one situation, the minor was asked for identification and a Texas Driver license which showed the minor’s age was presented. The sale was still made in spite of the ID being shown.
