APISD trustees name Cooke lone superintendent finalist
Aransas Pass Independent School District (APISD) interim superintendent Cara Cooke was named the finalist for APISD superintendent position, after a special meeting Monday, Nov. 19.
Cooke said when she lived in Rockport six years ago she didn’t hear much about the school, however, after working as the interim superintendent since July 30 of this year she has learned APISD is a great district.
She holds a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin and has more than 30 years experience in pubic schools.
The board of trustees received superintendent job search training from the Texas Education Agency, reviewed applications, and interviewed candidates, during their search for a new superintendent since July of this year.
APISD board president Victor Galvan said, “We interviewed well-qualified candidates and believe we have chosen the best person for the job to keep the school district moving forward and to help us as we progress to the next level of achievement.”
