APHS Panthers fall to Marion in bi-district playoff
FALLS CITY - Although the Aransas Pass Panthers bidistrict matchup against the Marion Bulldogs was within reach in the first three quarters, the Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter eliminating the Panthers from the playoffs by a 56-12 score.
The Bulldogs received the kickoff to start the game and the Panther defense allowed one first down before forcing the Bulldogs to punt. The Panther offense took the field, but could not find any running lanes, and a false start penalty halted the drive.
On the next Marion possession, the Bulldogs went to the air and quickly drove into Panther territory scoring on a short quarterback draw, for a 7-0 lead.
The Panthers were back on offense, but a costly fumble gave the ball right back to the Bulldogs with good field position. Marion again attacked the Panther secondary with screens, and scored quickly to end the first quarter with a 14-0 Bulldog lead.
