AP resident Campos inducted into 2016 class of Tejano Hall of Fame

Aransas Pass guitarist Rudy Campos was recently inducted into the Tejano ROOTS (Remembering Our Own Tejano Stars) Hall of Fame in the Class of 2016 and the awards ceremony was at the Alice VFW Post in front of an over-flowing crowd.

Not only was the induction ceremony a full house, Rudy said, “The Alice event was like an old high school reunion because I was inducted with a lot of people I have performed with over the past 30 years.” He also noted, “The real highlight of the evening for me was not necessarily getting inducted, but rather meeting Juan Guerrero, founder of a 1980s group called the Sheekanos. He was a big songwriter from Mission, Texas and wrote the big hit song ‘Ya te di’ recorded by Elsa Garcia. I have been wanting to meet him for years and I happened to meet him in the elevator at the hotel in Alice during the awards ceremony.”
