AP City Council overview presented
The Aransas Pass City Council met in a regular session Monday, June 5, and took action to approve several items of interest and which will affect local residents. Due to Monday press deadlines before the council meeting, information about action taken is not able to published until the week after the meeting.
The council approved awarding a request for proposal (RFP) for carpet replacement at the Aransas Pass Civic Center to Monroe’s Carpet & Furniture out of Rockport at a price of $87,004.25. The Municipal Development Board (MDD) board approved replacing the carpet in 2016. The Council approved going out for RFPs for the project and after bid closing, ended up not having enough money budgeted for the project. The MDD board then amended the budget to allocate the funds for the project. The council then approved an RFP for new carpet in May, and received the one bid from Monroe’s. The project will take 12-14 days to complete and rental space will have to be blocked off, however plans are to do so in a way it will have the least amount of financial impact for Civic Center revenues.
