Care Regional Medical Center administrators evacuated patients before Hurricane Harvey made landfall, and fully expected to be back in business the following Monday.

Aransas Pass native Michael E. Welborn, best known for the judicial positions he held in San Patricio County, passed away last week after a battle with cancer.

The Aransas Pass City Council has picked up where it left off before Hurricane Harvey and conducting regular meetings to take action on routine business. The council met Monday, Sept.


An Internet image this week reminded me that with the south dove zone season opening Friday, Sept. 22, the entire state will be open.

The Aransas Pass Chamber sustained severe damage in the lobby area and was unable to operate out of the office.

The Honorable Michael E. Welborn, 69, of Aransas Pass, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2017, following a brief illness.

Florencio “Nuno” Cruz Jr., 50, passed away Aug. 24, 2017. Nuno was born in Sinton, on Dec. 16, 1966 to Florencio Sr. and Rosemary (Olivarez) Cruz. He was a lifelong resident of Aransas Pass.

Erienell “Nell” Gum Callender, 93, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Aransas Pass. She was born June 18, 1924 in Chilton, TX. She was the daughter of Hattie Mae and Elic Gum.
