‘All Hands’ of volunteers help Aransas Pass
When Hurricane Harvey came through Aransas Pass, he left behind a lot of destruction of homes, businesses, and lives, but in the aftermath, a group of volunteers came in to work hands-on in the community and help it rebuild. All Hands volunteers arrived days after the order had been lifted about returning to the area and they have been hard at work since then picking up and hauling debris, cutting trees/branches, mucking and gutting homes, and other such jobs as needed.
Some volunteers stay for days, others for weeks, and others for months, all overseen by J.J. Jahr, volunteer relations coordinator; and All Hands program director Kat Troy of Chicago. Volunteers have different reasons for volunteering, varying levels of skills, and everyone experiences something different.
