Both San Patricio and Aransas Counties lifted burn bans.
The bans have been in effect for the past several months due to the extremely dry weather that South Texas experienced last year.
Aransas Pass Fire Chief Ricky Kilgore stated, "Now that the burn ban is lifted it is ok for those inside the community to burn, but we ask that everyone still take precautions to make sure that the fires they make don't get away from them."
Judge Burt Mills announced last week that Aransas County has lifted their burn ban, which has been in effect since last summer.
According to Gillian Cox, public information officer, “Area fire department's ask that you use extreme caution if burning accumulated BRUSH. As always it is ILLEGAL to burn tires, mattresses, any type of container that had paint or fuels in it, building materials, etc.
“Please contact your local fire department, or the fire marshal if you have further questions.”
